In the summer of 2007 my wife, Misty, and I were asked to be a Ma and Pa for a pioneer trek. The pioneer trek is an activity that the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints offers its youth to give them a small amount of insight of what it might be like to push a handcart through the mountains and to gain appreciation for their ancestors. This was an opportunity and a privilege that we were extremely excited for.
We were assigned nine young men and women to be children in our family and among other things were asked to prepare a family night spiritual lesson. This lesson could be on anything that we felt inspired to teach them. Misty and I had been praying for direction when one day we were preparing for our weekly Sunday school lessons and were inspired in a way that was undeniable for both of us.
